When you use a browser to store your passwords, you can only access the data on that browser. Rather, 1Password syncs all of your data across every browser and device on which you’re accessing 1Password. With 1Password, your data is not stored in a single ecosystem (such as your browser). However, there are critical differences between saving your passwords in your browser versus saving them in 1Password. When you see “Your security key was successfully registered”, click “Done”.įrom now on, you can use your security key the first time you sign in to your 1Password account on a new device.īrowsers like Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox will ask to save your passwords for you and then fill them in automatically when you visit that site again in the future. Your pin is stored locally on your security key.ħ. If you’re on Windows, Security may ask you to create a pin. Insert your security key into the USB port on your computer. Enter a name for your security key and click “Next”.Ħ. Click More Actions > “Manage Two-factor Authentication”.ĥ. Click your name in the top right and choose “My Profile”.ģ. Sign in to your 1Password account on your computer.Ģ. If you would like to setup two factor authentication via a security key after creating your account, please do the following:ġ. Enter the 6-digit authentication code into your authentication app and press Confirm. If you have an alternate authenticator app, please contact the ITS Service Desk.ĥ. Note: we recommend you use Microsoft Authenticator. Please select Set Up App and use an authentication app on your mobile device to scan the QR code.
